HEXAGONAL BOLTS AND NUT

PROPORTIONS FOR HEXAGONAL BOLTS
From Design Data Book

Assuming Diameter (d) = 24 mm
Size across flat (S) = 1.25d+6 mm
Size across corner (e) = 1.155×S
Height of the nut (h) = 0.8 d to d
Angle =30°

The length of threaded part
Height (h) = 0.75 d to 0.8 d
length (l) = 2d+5 mm, for bolt up to and including.
length (l) = 2d+10mm, for bolts length above 80 mm and up to 200 mm.
length (l) = 2d+20 mm, for lengths above 200 mm.

V - THREAD WITH FLAT CREST AND ROOT
Hexagonal bolt thread part (v- thread with flat crest and root)
Pitch (P) = 3 mm
Height (H) = 3 mm

PROPORTIONS FOR HEXAGONAL NUT
Assuming Diameter (d) = 24 mm
Size across flat (S) = 1.25d+6 mm
Size across corner (e) = 1.155×S
Height of the nut (h) = 0.8 d to d
Angle =30°

PROPORTIONS FOR SQUARE NUT
Size across the flat (s)    = 1.5 d +3 mm
Size across the corner e =  √2  ×s
Height of the nut h = 0.8 d to d
Angle = 30°
