FIND THE SIZE OF BOLT DIAMETER

Determine the size of bolts?

SOLUTIONS OF THIS QUESTION TO VIEW TO CLICK BELOW LINK

https://mechdesigns1.blogspot.com/p/pdf.html

1. Find the safe load for the bolt M6 assuming safe tensile stress of 40 N/mm^2

2. A steam engine cycle of 300 mm effective diameter is subjected to a steam pressure of 1.8 N/mm^2. The cylinder cover is connected by means of 6 bolts. The bolts are tightened with initial load of 1.5 times that of steam load. The copper gasket of stiffness factor 0.5 is used to make the joint leak proof. Determine the size of the bolts so the stress induced in the bolt not to exceed 100 N/mm^2.

3. Two machine parts are fastened together tightly by means of M24 tap bolt. Find the stress that is setup in this bolt by initial tightening.

4. Steam engine cylinder head is subjected to a steam pressure of 0.6 N/mm^2. It is held in position by means of 12 bolts. A soft copper gasket is used to make the joint leak proof. The effective diameter of the cylinder is 300 mm. considering the initial tension due to tightening of bolt and assuming K= 0.5. Determine the size bolts so that the ultimate stress in the bolts is 800 N/mm^2 and factor of safety 8.
